Eric Sollee (1926-2008)

June 30, 2008 - It is with great sadness that we report that Eric Sollee passed away today.  Eric was the former head coach at MIT and assistant coach at Harvard, though this hardly begins to describe his influence and importance to New England fencing.  He was a most remarkable man; joyous, exuberant and energetic.

From what we have learned so far, funeral arrangements will be private. However a celebration of Eric's life will be scheduled at some point and we will be sure to pass along that information when it becomes available. Our deepest sympathies go out to Eric's family.

Pomme de Terre

We would like to thank all of the fencers, officials and volunteers who made the 20th Anniversary of the Pomme de Terre so sucessful.

Pomme de Terre Results are now posted.

Lost and found - If you left anything behind at the Pomme, please contact Jeff Altbush, jeff@altbush.com, 781.640.3883. (And to the fencer who lost one shoe: we found it; please contact us.)

Rating Changes - Classification changes from the Pomme will be sent to the National Office as quickly as possible.  If this year is like years past, the Pomme takes place after the deadline for rating changes to be accepted for Summer Nationals.

  • 1 Round of Pools - 100% promoted
  • Straight DE to the round of 16
  • Round of 16 is fenced as two double stripped pools of 8.
  • 4 fencers promoted from each pool.
  • Final DE of 8 - table looks like this: 1A-4B, 3A-2B,2A-3B,4A-1B.  This is done so your first DE in the 8 is against someone from the other pool.
Please see "Tournament Info" for complete information on these events and the entire Division schedule.
